Beyond Psychology

The only way onwards, is inwards

Gift your employees a new, affordable, progressive and super effective tool for personal growth, that improves their mental, emotional and physical well-being, which makes them feel seen and heard, and that prevents burn-out.

In short…

The main reason why employees experience e.g. stress, insecurity, fear, perfectionism, burn-out or even physical illnesses at work, isn’t cognitive, but emotional, and related to negative experiences from their past, that they are mostly not aware of and that are still present in their body.

Because you can’t solve an emotional problem in a cognitive way, traditional tools of psychology and coaching, that solely focus on cognition, mindset and words, fall short. New non-cognitive tools are necessary.

According to us, and backed up by various neuroscientists such as Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Prof. Erik Scherder, healing music is the perfect non-cognitive tool that can help employees overcome life’s adversities.

In fact, using healing music for personal growth and the prevention of e.g. burn-out gives better results than any other type of cognitive treatment (Dr. Bessel van der Kolk), and is very efficient and cost-effective because it helps to save years of expensive (talk)therapy or coaching sessions (Fancourt & Finn).

Dear employer, manager and/or entrepreneur,

At Beyond Psychology we have created a tool for employees where we combine psychology, personal growth and music, and our founder, Myrthe Glasbergen (Occupational Health Psychologist, MSc., life- and job coach, and intuitive singer) now has a beautiful and very affordable opportunity for you.

The tool is called HeArt Journey and it is a guided journey for personal growth, plus an online platform and community, with monthly provided guidance, healing music, and practical tools, that helps employees with self-awareness, self-regulation, emotional intelligence, self-expression and self-actualization.

It prevents employees from getting sick or experiencing e.g. burn-out and by contrast improves employee productivity and performance, plus increases employee loyalty, engagement and satisfaction.

The importance of starting to contribute now

The importance and popularity of mental and physical well-being and emotional intelligence amongst employees, will increase in the near future.

This is emphasized e.g. by the growing number of people that are taking part in the ‘#SelfHealers-Movement‘, initiated by the American doctor Nicole LePera, from theholisticpsychologist.com with currently more than 5 million(!) followers worldwide.

Therefore we believe that you, an employer or entrepreneur with vision, have to start contributing to the well-being of employees now and provide them with the right tools and resources.

When you choose to start now, you show employees that their personal growth has priority. This has a very positive impact on all layers in the workplace.

Something Nokia already did successfully 20 years ago by introducing sabbaticals and meditation in their company.

Our offer

Beyond Psychology now offers you the opportunity to give (some of) your employees HeArt Journey 2023 as a gift.

We choose this because we already have enough paying participants to get through the initial period and now want to expand the community first, and therefore focus on larger numbers instead of income.

We trust that the income, necessary for continuity, will come later.

Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to employee well-being now, be part of our mission to raise awareness on mental, physical and emotional health, and give back to our beautiful planet!

What is HeArt Journey

HeArt Journey is a 1 year guided journey through the elements and an online platform and community, with monthly provided guidance, healing music and practical tools for self-awareness, personal growth and empowerment.

Every element represents 1 of the 4 stages of personal growth & transformation and in every stage your employees will be guided to use art as a tool for self-exploration, self-regulation, self-expression and self-actualization.

In addition, they receive guidance (text and video) to help them gain more self-awareness, and to discover who they are and how they can help themselves to change certain behavior and grow personally.

They also receive healing music (e.g. music, poetry and song) that helps them go inwards, and generates warmth, self-compassion, peace, trust and safety. These are, according to e.g. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (The body keeps the score, 2014) the most important components for personal growth, healing and transformation.

The journey is aimed at raising the emotional intelligence of your employees and helping them to fully live up to their creative potential.

The formula

Your employees will not receive complicated, cognitive, over-informative, and money + time consuming lessons and courses, but simple yet effective guidance, art and tools that get to the roots of their struggles and that help them to become self-aware, confident, authentic and empowered.

The importance of starting to contribute now

Out of publications, books and statements of e.g. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Nicole LePera, we know one of the main reasons why your employees struggle with e.g. fear, anxiety, stress, perfectionism, burn-out or even physical inconveniences at life and work, is not because there is something wrong with them or because they are not fit to do the job, but because of negative experiences from their past that they are not aware of that are still present in their body.

If unacknowledged and untreated, these experiences unconsciously control and influence their health, personality, behavior and choices almost daily (e.g. The body keeps the score, Bessel van der Kolk 2014, The myth of normal, Dr. Gabor Maté, 2022).

The workplace is one of the main environments where (the effects of) negative childhood experiences will come the surface (e.g. Anda and colleagues). There, it will interfere with people’s performance and negatively influence people’s ability to e.g. think logically, critically and creatively and to speak their truth, set boundaries and to co-operate and co-create.

Next to this, more and more people are becoming aware now of how much their lives have been influenced by the demanding (and dysfunctional) society and culture they grew up in. They are starting to realize how this has forced them to suppress their emotions and authentic self and to live in survival mode (fight, flight, freeze or fawn mode) and in competition with each other, for way too long.

They will feel that they no longer want to live on like this and will want to prioritize their mental, emotional and physical well-being in life and at work.

If you, as an employer, are not aware of this and don’t take any action, it is possible that you will be faced with a growing dissatisfaction and drop-out amongst your employees, as the level of awareness rises, and maybe even a ‘burn-out epidemic’ in the near future, as the number of people experiencing stress, anxiety, dissatisfaction and/or depression, continues to increase.

The importance and popularity of mental, emotional and physical well-being (in life and at work), is also being emphasized, for example, by the growing number of people that are taking part in the ‘#SelfHealers Movement’, initiated by the American doctor Nicole LePera, from theholisticpsychologist.com.

She has built a very successful and popular online community and platform for self-help and personal growth that, over the past several years, has gained over more than 5 million followers(!) online worldwide.

Because of all of this, we believe it is very important to start contributing to the health and well-being of your employees now and to provide them with the right tools and resources for self-awareness, personal growth and empowerment.

How it started & why we use art

People are, inexplicably, often better than any other type of cognitive treatment, medication or drug, best served by non-cognitive tools that provide self-compassion, warmth, trust, safety, and that help to form a deep relationship with the body. Tools such as healing art (music, singing, dancing or theater) are good ways to provide this.

Bessel van der Kolk

The body keeps the score - 2014

While working for many years as an occupational health psychologist and successful life- and job coach, Myrthe found herself limited by traditional tools of psychology, coaching and personal growth because of their non-holistic approach and sole focus on cognition, words and mindset. While she quickly discovered that the source of people’s problems isn’t cognitive at all, but emotional and related to negative childhood experiences.

She felt that a new and holistic approach towards personal growth, coaching and helping people overcome life’s adversities was needed desperately.

It was one of the main reasons for her to go on a search to find a tool that could transcend classic forms of psychology and coaching and that could speak directly the body. A tool that could be more efficient and effective and could help people save years of psychological and emotional struggle and countless expensive coaching or talk therapy sessions. When she couldn’t find such a tool, she decided to create one.

In her life she had always used music and intuitive singing as a tool for self-exploration, self-expression, self-regulation and self-actualization and during her search she quickly understood that art was the answer to everything that she was looking for.

She first created HeArt Reflection, a personalized healing tool with poetry, spoken word, healing sounds, music & song created by her (she is also an intuitive singer, musician, former singing teacher and studied at the conservatory of Rotterdam, Codarts), that helps to generate self-compassion, warmth, trust, safety, peace and harmony, from which negative childhood experiences and stuck emotions can be addressed, acknowledged, felt and healed properly.

Through making personalized healing music for her clients, she discovered that almost all people struggle with the same themes and/or encounter the same problems, and almost everybody has a deep longing for self-expression and that when people feel safe enough to express all of who they are, they instantly grow and heal. She now understood that art has such a transformative effect, especially when it is used for self-discovery, emotion expression and self-regulation.

She then decided to expand her work and bring her vision to life: to create a platform, suitable for both individuals and companies and their employees, where she could share (her) healing music with as many people as possible and to teach and inspire them to grow, discover who they truly are and to transform themselves and their lives. Beyond psychology was born.

After building Beyond psychology and HeArt Journey, she discovered the work of psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr. Bessel van der Kolk. It was a beautiful confirmation of the intuitive work she was already doing for years.

Music distracts. This distraction has a soothing and calming effect on pain and it therefore has a positive impact on how somebody feels.
