What this practice does

Guilt often appears when you set a boundary, say no, express anger, or stop people pleasing. In this trauma informed somatic exercise, you learn to notice guilt as it arises in your body, trace it back to the moment it was formed, and understand the protective role it once played. By meeting the part of you that carries guilt with care, you begin to integrate what was never allowed to be felt.

How it works

Through guided somatic awareness, this exercise invites you to slow down and listen inward. You will feel where guilt lives in your body, connect to the memory or situation that shaped it, and hear its message without judgment. From there, you offer yourself the understanding, safety, or permission that was missing at the time. This process allows guilt to soften, integrate, and release.

What is a somatic exercise

A somatic exercise uses body awareness as an entrance to the subconscious. Instead of analyzing from the mind, you work directly with sensation, emotion, and memory stored in the body. This allows you to understand patterns at their root and create change that is felt, not forced.

How to use this exercise

Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Get comfortable sitting or lying down. Put on headphones if you like, close your eyes, and follow the guided audio. You do not need to do anything right. Just listen, feel, and allow the process to unfold.
