What this practice does

When stress, burnout, anxiety, or overwhelm take over, the nervous system shifts into survival mode. You may feel hypervigilant, numb, disconnected, or unable to relax. This somatic exercise supports your nervous system in moving out of survival and back into regulation by creating safety inside the body.

Through gentle, body-based self-soothing, this practice helps your system soften, slow down, and settle.

How it works

This guided exercise uses simple hand placements on different areas of the body to activate calming responses in the nervous system. As you follow the guidance, your body is invited to release tension, ground into the present moment, and rebuild a felt sense of safety from within.

The combination of touch, music, and spoken word allows regulation to happen gently, without effort or analysis.

What is a somatic exercise

A somatic exercise works directly with the body rather than the mind. Instead of thinking your way out of stress, you use sensation, touch, and awareness to communicate safety to the nervous system. This allows regulation to happen at a physiological level, where survival responses are held.

How to use this exercise

Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can sit or lie down. Press play and follow the guided instructions, using your hands as suggested. There is nothing you need to do right. Simply allow your body to respond.
